When Google and a host of partners announced the joint development of an open source OS for mobile devices was competing with the iPhone, it was not known how this would pan out. However, it had shades of Microsoft’s strategy, launching Windows into becoming the most widely used desktop operating system in the world. Google is known for good foresight and judgment and it seemed that moving in early on a market that was set to explode was a sure, heroic victory.
